POEM TITLE: WELCOME TO MY HOOD.

Rights: The Kanati Company.
From copulation, to the conception
That led to my procreation,
Disagreed in the determination
Aimed at my termination,
Castigations and Acts of suppression,
Brought about depression
Which led to my rejection
From the inception
Hated and rejected from mama’s womb
Maltreated and devastated from childhood
Never sent to school to have it cool
Nor shown a way of life and true
But rather dumped to either scale it through,
Nor die within a day or two.
There, solace presented itself
With a smile so real and good
And a mission to change my mood
This is my Hood!!! He said.
Welcome to the hood! My friend
Welcome to my world! With no end.
This ghetto of mine teaches than a university
Blending every human in many capacity
With a vision aimed at prosperity
Feared though, but best for humanity.
Dear friend, welcome to the hood
Where we mix bad with good
Welcome to the ghetto
Where games blesses one with brains
Welcome to the streets
Where we find Joy in the midst of pain
Welcome to the slums
Where fate takes one from shame to fame
Welcome to the nooks
Where dreams come through
Welcome to the life of swords and words
Welcome to ‘Deceive to Receive’
Welcome to survival of the fittest
Welcome to the slogan we preach
Get rich or die trying
Welcome to many faces but no friend
Welcome to a life so unfair but fair.
Either ways, based on believe
Welcome to the hood and how we live.
From queuing up in the morning
To ease off what I bought with my money
To the bunks smoking weed
Without food, nor a doe to feed
Thinking about my life and breed
Joined by a nigga badly shot and in bleed
Narrating his ordeals to the breeze
His Dreams, visions and missions freezed
Escaping the Police and their problems
I scaled fences to my mayhems.
Little prayer , off to ileya.
Based on believe
I pushed harder to receive
Sealing up my mind
To struggle and grind
Saying no to set backs
When this niggas hold back
Understanding life as I grew
Negativities I screw
Waking up in shambles and ram shackles
I see a future rather than the obstacles
With Conquered vanity and reduced insanity
I regained focus and stability
Planning ahead for myself and Posterity
Flashing back now to Solace and his words
Everything Said from A to Zed
I might just be in my final year of this University
Every dream now points at reality
Showing signs of their possibility
Within me, Is certified Credibility.
Standing out from the crowd now,
And looking at this success crown ,
Reminiscing my hustle from the start,
Road so far, phases and it’s many paths,
I bow in prostrate, giving it all to the streets!
Who accepted and blended me in bits.
Respects to all corners of the streets
Who made me a graduate of ghetto University
And the voice of the streets!
Called me king and most incredible.
Long as I live, my loyalty stays with the hood!
If lost and found, please return to the hood!
